Stock index futures were mostly flat Tuesday in quiet action after the Christmas holiday as investors awaited a closely-watched gauge of consumer confidence.

 

 

Futures are up moderately which include the S&P (flat), NASDAQ (3.75) and the DOW (6.0) on Tuesday, 12/27/11.

 

 

EU stock markets edge higher on Tuesday after the long Christmas-holiday weekend, though volumes were expected to remain thin.London markets remain closed for holiday. French and German stocks led gains.

 

 

Chinese stocks sink to fresh 33-month low to lead Asian markets further down, with losses spread across sectors in thin trading and tight liquidity conditions. Japanese stocks jump as exporters rally on the back of upbeat US economic data.
